No wonder Newton is referred to as the Garden City. One of the most beautiful display gardens has been designed, planted, and tended to by a volunteer group within Newton Community Pride. The All-America Selections Display Garden is located Newton Centre.
The garden is in bloom from April through September each year with spring bulbs, planted the previous October, followed by summer flowers planted in June. In recent years, the volunteers have also grown all of the summer plants for the Newton Centre garden. These include the All America Selection varieties as well as others. This activity starts in early February with seeds and seedlings and ends in June when these summer flowers replace the spring bulbs in the garden. Over the years, several greenhouses in Newton and Waltham have been used to grow these annuals. In 2005, Newton Community Pride was granted use of the greenhouse facility at the Newton Cultural Center. ~NewtonCommunityPride
